Hi, I have hair thinning problem and baldness on crown area. I have been using mintop Forte 5% since last 6 yrs and fortunately was able to atleast maintain my hair condition as it was, although not a new hair growth. However, I haven't been consistent with mintop.
I heard about PRP therapy and have below queries:
1. Is prp a permanent solution for hair thinning and baldness.
2. If not permanent then how long it will have effects. Not expecting perfect answer but at least an approximate number of days/months/years.
3. Post prp therapy are there any rules to follow about hair maintenance.

PRP is a new therapy. It's nice to know that you have maintained your hair for so long. There are no clinical studies in a large population to know how many people benefit from it. It is popular because it can be made in the clinic and from the patients own blood. I usually recommend my patients to undergo atleast 3 sessions to see if there is an improvement. PRP generally helps to thicken the existing hair. It is very unlikely that it will stabilise hairloss due to stopping minoxidil. You could try reducing the dose of minoxidil to alternate day, once a day application along with PRP for 3 months. If your hair is being maintained then reduce minoxidil further (weekly twice) and continue another 3 sessions of PRP. If you notice that u might be balding again you will have no choice but to continue minoxidil. Hope this helped you. Warm regards. Dr. Rajdeep Mysore. Chirag Hospital Bangalore
