Hair fall and dryness
Hi At the end of last winter I experienced extremely itchy scalp especially after washing my hair. I admit I was using hair dryer after hair wash since hair takes longer to dry in the north indian winter. I self managed the itchy scalp by stopping hair dryer use completely, switching to sebamed shampoo and application of curd, coconut oil, vitamin e oil etc on scalp. While itch is far lesser, now I have experienced extreme hair fall and have estimated I have lost around 3/4th of my hair. I used to wash my hair daily given the pollution and sweat in North India but now do it on alternate days. I am someone who always have thick abundant hair all life and always got complimented for it. I don't know why I am experiencing this and have never had such an issue. I have not been taking any medicine for some health issue which could have such a side effect. The only change in my intake is that I used to take femilon contraceptive oral which i stopped since May or June. Kindly advise

Hello, Hair volume loss is not very superficial condition. There is no relation with washing or dandruff. It is most commonly due to severe neutritional deficiencies or hormonal imbalance or genetic. However there are many uncommon reasons too. It's not good to wait till you loose significant volume. Please visit nearby qualified dermatologist who can check your scalp and do some blood tests to find out the reason if you want to retain and grow your hair. Treatment is always based on reason for hair volume loss.
