Hair and scalp issues
Hi there.. I am a breastfeeding mother of a baby of 4 months. Basically I am a mother of 2. My elder one is my son of 4 years. Me and my son are having lice infestation when I was pregnant with my second. Now we tried everything the lice is not going away completely. It's really getting embarrassing dady by day. Hi dear, I understand how uncomfortable and embarrassing this can feel, especially while caring for two little ones. Don’t worry — lice can be completely treated safely even during breastfeeding. Since you and your 4-year-old both are affected, you need simultaneous treatment to prevent reinfestation. Use Permethrin 1% lotion (safe for breastfeeding mothers and children above 2 years). Apply on dry scalp for 10 minutes, then rinse well. Comb wet hair with a fine-toothed lice comb daily for 7–10 days. Wash all pillow covers, bedsheets, and towels in hot water and sun-dry them. Avoid sharing combs or hair accessories. If lice persist despite this, you may need a stronger prescription lotion or oral medication (given only under supervision). I’ll help you with a customized plan for both you and your child to clear it completely within a day or two. Please connect with me personally on WhatsApp at nine three two six zero two zero five nine six for step-by-step guidance and medicine details

Yours seems to be a difficult problem because you have already tried the conventional treatment like Premethrin . Please consult a Dermatologist in your area for a physical examination and further management.

You and your child likely have a persistent lice infestation. The safest and most effective treatment in breastfeeding mothers is Permethrin 1% lotion, applied on dry scalp for 10 minutes and repeated after 7 days
Next Steps
Please consult with me directly so I can assess scalp condition, confirm if resistance has developed, and prescribe a suitable treatment plan for both you and your child safely.
Health Tips
Wash bed linens, towels, and combs in hot water and treat all family members simultaneously to avoid reinfection.

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. I understand your concern. Head lice infestation can be very frustrating, especially when it spreads among family members. Since you are breastfeeding, the treatment must be both effective and safe for you and your baby. ✅ Advices • Use Permethrin 1% lotion (Permite, Scabper, or Perlice) — apply it thoroughly on dry scalp and hair, leave it for 10 minutes, then rinse with normal water. Comb the wet hair with a fine-tooth lice comb to remove dead lice and eggs. • Repeat the same process after 7 days, as eggs that survive the first application can hatch later. • Wash all pillow covers, bed sheets, and towels in hot water and dry them in sunlight. • Treat your 4-year-old son with the same Permethrin 1% lotion in the same way. What to Monitor • Itching and crawling sensations should reduce within 24 to 48 hours. • Check the scalp again after 1 week for any new lice. Management Avoid sharing combs, hair ties, or hats. You may use coconut oil or olive oil in between treatments, as it suffocates any remaining lice. Do not use any oral or strong chemical treatment while breastfeeding. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately • Persistent itching or skin rash on scalp • Secondary infection with pus or sores • Lice spreading despite treatment after 2 cycles Every patient’s situation is unique. For accurate diagnosis and lasting relief, it is important to discuss your medical history and symptoms in detail. 👉 You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation. I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation, where you will receive: A personalized treatment plan Safe medicine adjustments if required Quick follow-ups to track your recovery Take care, wishing you good health. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician
