Cancer is a disease which has frightened many patients and their families because of the suffering and the high probability of death. These thoughts makes the person feel hopeless, helpless and worthless if they are unable to carry out their duties and responsibilities. Your mother might be going through a similar situation. Hence depression cannot be ruled out. Based on her current condition, you could help her to see some hope in whatever days that she has left to live, do things together, set up a daily routine based on her energy levels. She might be a person who liked her independence and mobility. Give it to her in what ever way she can manage.
Next Steps
See a counselling psychologist for full evaluation and setting up plan to help her gain back emotional regulation.
Health Tips
For any person, well or unwell, life and living is a gamble. Nobody knows what is going to happen in the next moment.. A hale and hearty person can die after an acidity attack or a cancer patient can survive most of their family members. The trick to happiness is to embrace this uncertainty and try to find a way to productively and joyfully live their time between life and death.
