Considering that the diagnosis is not self made but via a clinician the following are the management protocols for a GERD.
Diagnosis:
1. Upper GI endoscopy to confirm and grade the severity and to rule out other coexisting stomach issues.
Treatment:
1. Dietary and lifestyle changes
2. Quit alcohol and smoking
3.Medical management with Proton pump inhibitors
However medical management needs longterm treatment and does not address the cause of reflux.
More definitive and curative treatment would be
