General enquiry
1)Can the personally held values and beliefs of a psychiatrist play any role in the treatment of a patient with a mental disorder ( for example, during talk therapies and counselling)? 2)Will a psychiatrist make his patient compromise with the set of ideas, values or beliefs that the patient holds? I apologise if I put up some 'should-not-ask-questions'. But these question are purely out of my doubts. These are some of the questions which are hindering me from deciding my consultation with a psychiatrist. Thank you.

1. Ideally no. But everyone is human, so it might.  2. There's nothing like making a patient compromise with the set of ideas, values or beliefs. The Psychiatrist might probably make you question some beliefs, their validity and correctness. I think that's fair. You need to know why you hold a particular belief and if on challenging your belief, you do realize that it's a wrong one then there's no harm in accepting it.
