This is not a common site of ganglion..
Rule out vascular and other possibilities with ultrasound or MRI .

As described already by you, a ganglion is a benign lump. No worries till it is a ganglion. Please consult an orthopedic for confirming diagnosis. If symptomatic a ganglion may be aspirated or excised to prevent recurrence.
