Gallstones
Due to some other reason doctor asked me for USG of upper abdomen. Accidentally they found gallstones. The report says 'Numerous small calculi found inside gall bladder, measuring 0.88 mm'. I have no pain. What to do now? Can it be treated with medicine or I have to undergo surgery?

Hi if there is no upper abdominal pain / post meal fullness / discomfort / upper back pain , then you don't require surgery. This is asymptomatic gall stone. In case you develop any of above symptoms them you require surgery. There is no any medicines in present world to dissolve gall bladder stone. There is no medicine to treat gall stones. If left untreated gall stones can cause major complications and may even be a risk to life..
In comparison surgery for gall stones is low risk, with quick recovery and no long term physiological implications following removal of the gall bladder. There are no restrictions whatsoever regarding diet or activity.
So why not choose the safer and medically indicated option?
