Gallstone problem
Sir/Mam, My USG report shows 13.3mm gallstones. I have no problem/ symptom due to this gallstone till now. However, Dr advised me for surgery and prescribed no medicine in this regard. I have a confusion in this regard that, since there is no problem, why Dr advises to undergo surgery to remove the gallbladder. So, kindly advise me if there is any other treatment other than surgery or not ? Or can I defer the surgery ?

You have a Gall stone without any symptom, but it may cause other problems later. And there is no evidence of medical treatment of Gall stones. So it’s better to get operated (not so urgent), to prevent other complications.
Next Steps
Consult a General Surgeon for further evaluation.

Dear Madam, Your ultrasound shows a gallstone measuring approximately 13.3 mm. At present, since you do not have any symptoms, there is no immediate urgency for surgery. It is important to understand that once a gallstone has formed, there is no proven or reliable medical (non-surgical) treatment available to dissolve it. Therefore, surgical removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) remains the only definitive treatment. That said, in patients like you who are completely asymptomatic, it is reasonable to defer surgery and adopt a watchful waiting approach, provided you are well-informed about the possible future risks. If symptoms develop, they can vary in severity, such as: Mild symptoms: upper abdominal pain, especially after meals, nausea, or vomiting (suggestive of cholecystitis) More serious complications: such as acute pancreatitis, which can be severe Smaller stones are more likely to migrate and cause blockage, leading to complications like pancreatitis. In your case, the stone is relatively larger, and such stones are less likely to pass into the bile duct, unless the cystic duct is unusually wide. Whenever you decide to proceed, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the standard treatment. It is a safe, commonly performed, minimally invasive procedure with a quick recovery time and excellent outcomes.

Even though you are asymptomatic, since stone size is more than 1cm it is an indication for undergoing chlocystectomy (Laparoscopic/open) to prevent further complications. Surgery is the only treatment for Gallstones.
Next Steps
Consult a General Surgeon and plan for surgery as early as possible.

The best time to get operated for Gall stones is when you don't have any symptoms. Medicine was not prescribed as this disease does not have medical treatment but only surgical treatment. Removal of gall bladder (cholecystectomy) is the gold standard for gall stone disease. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (laparoscopic gall bladder removal) is the gold standard method of treatment.
Next Steps
To plan for removal of gall bladder as per your earliest convenience.
Health Tips
Delaying the treatment may result in complications and hence difficult surgery/ management, so better to get operated before any complications arise.

Good morning Sir, As of now as there are no symptoms … these stones are silent stones , its better to undergo surgery before symptoms arises … The symptoms suggests cholecystitis( inflammation ) , to undergo surgery then , have higher complication rates and difficult surgery ..
