Fungal.infection toungue
My mother is suffering from fungal infection in her tongue from past 5-6months, just now we got to know she tested positive for diabetes and vitamin D deficiency. Could it be because of that or any other reason? And which specialist should we be consulting. Also she has thyroid problem.

Hello there. I can understand your concern. Fungal issue which she is having is called a oral thrush. In diabetics, or people who are taking long term steroids or people who are suffering from any other immunocompromised states, such opportunistic infections develop very fast. Therefore oral thrush, vaginal thrush, urinary tract infections etc are very common. You can apply candid buccal paint over the area. Dermatologist is to be consulted for issues regarding this. Best regards. Dr. Anil kumar jain.
