Your father was on low dose steroids. The risk for back fungus or mucormycosis is minimal. Please maintain good diabetic control. Watch out for danger symptoms like 1. Facial pain/numbness 2. Black or brown nasal/eye discharge 3. Severe headache/eye pain 4. Blackening of the skin of the eyelid

He is at minor risk because of diabetes and steroids but monitor for symptoms of unilateral stabbing facial pain , swelling in the face or eye and congestion of nose . Don’t panic out . Low dose steroids possess minimal risk but close monitor is essential
