Fungal infection(jock itch)
I've had jock itch( near genitals buttocks and thighs) for more than a month.I had this problem before for which i took ketoconazole and itraconazole tablets for about 15 days. It was cured within 15 days and didnt come back for like 1.5 months.
Then after that itching again started on same areas as before and i didnt take care of it and the redness and itchy patches increased over time.
i am an athlete sweating near genitals occurs
is it okay if i take only ketconalzole or itraconalzole

The treatment for fungal infection is simple. You have to take anti fungal tablets and creams for 4 to 6 weeks following which it resolves. Do not apply soap on that area and do not self treat with over the counter steroid creams. Mistreatment with steroid creams like panderm, fourderm, betnovate, candid b etc and self treatment with cheaper generic medicine is the most common reason for recurrent disease. Thanks for the query. Fungal infection is becoming an increasing problem due to rampant usage of antifungals. Please see a dermatologist as some extra medications are coprescribed many a times to treat. If needed a simple skin test can also be done. Till then use only OTC anti-allergic medications to control itching. Personal hygiene should be good. Wear loose fitting clothes.
