A long-standing groin infection is most commonly due to fungal infection (tinea cruris / jock itch). The good news is that it is treatable, even if it has been present for a long time. Many chronic cases persist because of incomplete treatment, use of steroid-mixed creams, or reinfection from clothes or sweating. With proper antifungal treatment and hygiene, it can usually be controlled well before your marriage. Helpful Tips / Word of Caution: • Avoid using steroid combination creams (very common cause of long-lasting fungal infection). • Do not share towels, underwear, or clothing with others. • Wash clothes in hot water and dry them properly in sunlight. • Treat any fungal infection on feet or other areas as well, as it can spread back to the groin. If you want, you can take an online consultation with me and share a clear photo, so I can guide you with a proper treatment plan to clear it before your marriage.
