As heard from alot of people, you cannot drink milk after eating sour food.
I wanted to understand how long do you have to wait before drinking milk after eating anything sour, like tamarind, etc

You can take milk immediately after you take sour food. I hope sour food is acidic and our stomach has a lot of acid. So your sour food can't make your stomach more acidic than it already is.
Yeah it causes Lactic acidosis, you heard that right from your sources.
Wait an hour or so, better shift to milk based products like curd, yoghurt, chana to avoid this.
