Fluoxetine 40mg daily
Hello dr My doctor prescribed Fluoxetine 20 mg once daily in the morning after breakfast, Propranolol 40 mg twice daily, and Clonazepam 0.25 mg at night for OCD and health anxiety. After 10 days, my doctor advised increasing Fluoxetine to 40 mg daily, and I have started taking 40 mg once daily. However, I am currently taking Propranolol 40 mg only once daily instead of twice. I want to confirm if this is okay and whether increasing Fluoxetine to 40 mg can cause any side effects or long-term effects on the liver or kidneys.

Fluoxetine 40 mg: Common step-up dose for OCD/anxiety May cause initially: nausea, headache, sleep issues, anxiety ↑ for few days Usually settles in 1–2 weeks Generally safe for liver & kidneys in healthy individuals Rarely mild liver enzyme rise, not common Not ideal to change dose yourself • Once daily may give less symptom control (palpitations, anxiety) Better follow doctor’s advised BD dosing unless told otherwise Clonazepam: Ok at night short-term Avoid long-term dependence What you should do: - Continue Fluoxetine 40 mg - Take Propranolol as prescribed twice daily - Review after 2–3 weeks
