Fistula formation
I had a perianal abscuss, which was surgically drained about 8 days back. The wound has almost healed with no leak of pus or blood. My doctor said i might need a follow up surgery for fistula tunnel removal and this can be confirmed only after a checkup after a month. Can someone please explain why a fistula tunnel forms after the abscess has been drained? What are the symptoms?

Tunnel forms first and then abscess. Abscess is drained as an emergency surgery then to fix the root cause fistula needs to be treated for permanent cure. Definitive surgery for Fistula and abscess can be done on 1st sitting also, in an expert surgeons hands.
