Ear ache during an upper respiratory tract infections(URTI) are common. There is a connection between the throat and middle ear which tends to get clogged during an URTI. That wd make him temporarily less audible. Paracetamol wd also serve as pain killer rt now. If it's frequent complaint then it wd b a matter of concern.
