Fear of heart attack
Hi Doctor, I am having fear of heart attack, having upper back pain and chest tightness for last 7 months which is there constantly. Consulted ortho doctor he said pain is because of muscle spasm and poor posture and asked to do physio therapy after doing that felt better but again getting pain. To validate of pain consulted cardio doctor, he askd to take cardio test like ecg, 2d echo, tmt, chest x ray, lipid profile test. To get 2nd opinion visited one more cardiologist he also said nothing to worry about heart. Except borderline cholestrol and BP all the test comes out normal. Taking bp tablet prolomet xl 25 ml. But I am thinking all the time of chest pain and heart attack. Whenever I am getting little pain in chest also started googling the reason and that has bcum my habit for all the time and day. Feeling depressed and getting anxious all the time. Can anyone suggest me some solution to come out from this issue or seriously I am having some heart issues.

Hi You are having fear of heart attack even when the test results are normal. It indicates you have health anxiety. You have visited two cardiologists and both the doctors said there is nothing to worry about. Inspite of doctors saying there is nothing to worry about you still have excessive thoughts and worries about your health. You are also googling symptoms. Avoid spending too much time googling symptoms it will make you feel more anxious. An effective treatment for health anxiety is psychotherapy. To feel better you will have to work on managing anxiety levels to feel calm. A psychologist will help you with relaxation and anxiety management techniques to feel calm. You don’t have to feel depressed and anxious. With counselling sessions you will feel calm.

As I was going through your query I thing which I could find appreciative was that you are aware about your well being and care for your body. Apart from that as your 2nd doctor suggested, it should be nothing to worry about. Maybe you have searched and went through too many articles on Google. I understand that you are feeling this way because you might be having responsibilities on you but all you need is a session with a Psychologist who will help you to come out of this this thought process. You may book a session with me to discuss more.
Next Steps
Book a Counselling session.

Hi... If all your cardio tests have came normal and the doctors are of the opinion that everything is fine with your heart and other vital organs, than your present condition may be attributed to health anxiety and poor routine. Please consult a Psychologist and start taking Counselling Sessions on weekly basis. It will help you regulate your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. It will also help you follow a healthy routine in terms of proper and timely meals, sleep, exercise, and breathing/meditation. You will get better within 15-20 sessions.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. CBT along with Lifestyle Changes and Interpersonal Guidance and Counselling is required.
