Fatty Liver
Hi I used to consume high level of alcohol for 10 years. Since past 5 years have quit hard liquor however have beer 5 days a week. Around 2 650 ml bottles. I have fatty liver grade 1. SGOT is 37 and SGPT is 64. Total Bilirubin is 0.6. AlL other liver parameters are normal. Will this fatty liver grade continue to progress? I swim for an hour 6 days a week. Around 400 metres. On Reheptin 1 tab a day since 6 years

Fatty liver is a reversible condition. If you stop alcoholism and if maintained healthy lifestyle ,the damage can be revert to normal.

Yes. It will progress. You can't heal a wound while continuously scrapping it. Liver will heal itself very fast if you stop alcohol before it has any permanent damage.

Alcohol related liver disease progression is usually very slow but inevitable once the process started. It is difficult to diagnose at its very early stage due to subtle changes in liver. Continue with your medicine and also keep in touch with one Gastroenterologist every 6 months.
