Facial hair
24 year old woman. I see hair growth on my chin and it's increasing i think. Earlier i used to pluck it with a teezer once in a month, but now i see the rate of growth has increased. Also I see new growth. Is there a way to stop this? My periods are normal and painfree so I don't think it's PCO.

First of all we need to check what type of hair growth is it. If it is thin hair its unlikely due to hormone imbalance but if it is thick and dark hair then we need to do hormone evaluation. Like you said your periods are regular ( this is just one symptom of pcos), acne around jawline, abnormal weight gain, etc are other symptoms. In addition to pcos increased thick hair can occur due to Cushing syndrome and as a side effect of some medicines.
Next Steps
I would advice you to consult a qualified dermatologist and get the complete evaluation done for proper diagnosis and treatment of root cause. In addition to that there are various methods for removal of unwanted hair.Laser hair reduction( wrongly advertised as permanent laser hair removal!) is the best method available which destroys the hair root and then hair stops growing.
Health Tips
Avoid using tweezers as it can cause injury and infection. Hope I answered all your queries. Regards,Dr. Jeetendra Khatuja (MUMBAI)
