Excessive anger and very short temper
My mother has been behaving abnormally for quite some time now (8 years and more) , these days she is exploding on every little issue finding excuses to start an argument with my dad .She goes all red during an argument and cannot control her anger at all . She threatens to commit suicide very frequently and complains of being lonely . Even when I try to reason her during an argument she just cannot accept her mistake . We as a family do go out and enjoy from time to time and even spend time with her . I am afraid that this has become an issue of mental health . She is so loud during an argument that she can can easily be heard by the close by neighbors and this very frequent . The problem therefore is her extreme overreaction to everything , even when something can be communicated in the most polite way . You are requested to guide me on this matter , I will be grateful .

8 years is a very long time, there seems to be a underlying Psychological disorder which can only be diagnosed with the help of a detailed case history. Go to a Psychiatrist first as looking at extreme cases of aggression she may need medicines, and also a Psychologist to help resolve a thoughts. Do this she will feel better with proper treatment.

I feel what she is behaving is the outburst of her early life's suppressions. Maybe,  your father was unable to support her during those days. And nowadays,  you are there to support her.  She could also assume you as her strength to  talk against your dad.
Next Steps
It is better to consult with a psychologist and find ways to get her  back  to handle and overcome those bad past experiences.
