We have a newborn in our home and we are keeping a watch on her 24/7 (inspite of taking all the safety precautions) because we are terrified of all the news about sids and/or her spitting up and choking on the spit while laying on the back. But, this is taking a heavy toll on our health since its just me and my wife and I have to go to work. Are there situations where we can sleep for a few hours without having to worry about the baby if she is sleeping in the crib in our room (not co sleeping) on her back? Any suggestions or solutions are appreciated.

Please ensure you baby always made to sleep on her back and ensure there no soft pillows or blankets under their heads. They dont roll over at this age. Ensure the baby is fed on demand / second hourly. Burp the baby after feeding. Never breast feed in lying down position especially at nights. These precautions are sufficient most of the time.
