Should I be concerned about a platelet level of 420 ( it was 400 3 months ago) My blood work was drawn on the same day I went into doctor's office with cold/flu symptoms. I was given Rx for antibiotics & I'm feeling better but have a lingering cough. I have a history of bronchitis & allergies. I am scheduled to have total hip replacement surgery in December. Can high platelet levels cause problems during or after surgery?

Hi, Your platelet count is still within normal range. Don't worry. If there is iron deficiency anemia, then it should be treated as it may cause mild rise in platelet count. Best wishes.
