Hi. I am male 27 years old. I am getting dry mouth since 1.5 weeks. My sugar and thyroid tests are normal. I visited a general physician, he says it's because of anxiety. But even when I am not anxious I get dry mouth. I drink 2-3 litres of water everyday. Tried lots of home remedies as well. But dryness is still there.

Dryness of mouth can happen due to many common reasons like not drinking enough water, sleeping with your mouth open, stress, or certain medicines. Sometimes it can also be related to acidity, dehydration, diabetes, or less saliva production.
I would suggest to visit your doctor to find the exact cause. Meanwhile, keep sipping water, avoid too much tea/coffee, and try sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva. Once we know the reason,
Dry mouth for 1–2 weeks can occur even when sugar and thyroid are normal. Common reasons include mouth breathing, acidity, stress, mild dehydration or vitamin deficiencies.
Next Steps
• Sip water frequently (small sips).
• Use Saleva / Biotene mouth-rinse or gel 2–3 times daily.
• Chew xylitol sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva.
• Avoid tea, coffee, smoking and alcohol-based mouthwashes.
Health Tips
Get Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3 and CBC checked and consult a dentist to rule out salivary gland blockage, fungal infection or mouth-breathing habits.
stay hydrated with water, stimulate saliva with sugar-free gum or candy, use over-the-counter saliva substitutes, ...consult ent and maxillofacial surgeon.
Before coming to any conclusion proper history is needed. Specially if you've started any medications in last 1 month or taking multivitamins with high B complex doses? Also need history regarding any snoring havits, mouth breathing habits, blocked nose, (dry mouth in these cases will be worst at the morning). If the physician suggested it is due to anxiety ( possibilities are work stress or poor sleep, or improper eat and sleep schedule). If any other symptoms like fatigue, weakness, body aches, loss appetite accompanies with dry mouth then you need to check gor Vitamin D, folate levels as well. If dry mouth worsens after meals then it could be due to silent acid reflux. And lastly if none of the above is applicable then do get checked for salivary gland duct blockage or sjogrens syndrome.
Next Steps
Get evaluated properly for symptoms. After that only proper tests and examinations can be carried out.
Health Tips
Heloful tip- you can use xylitol chewing gums or salivary substiture gels or vitamin c tich eatables till proper diagnosis.
ENT may evaluate your salivary glands more closely and run tests for conditions like Sjögrenâs syndrome if needed â though that is less common at your age.
