It can be due to
1)Dehydration (especially at night)
Even if you drink enough water in the daytime, fluid intake drops at night
Sleeping in an air-conditioned or dry room worsens it
2) Mouth breathing during sleep
Very common cause of severe night-time dryness
Happens due to:Nasal blockage,Snoring ,Stress or anxiety
this leads to white tongue coating and bad breath in the morning
3) Stress & anxiety
Stress reduces saliva flow
Night-time dryness + poor sleep is common in anxious individuals
4) Vitamin & mineral deficiencies
Especially:Vitamin B12 ,Iron,Vitamin D
Can also cause dry skin, cracked lips, burning mouth
5)Medications:Antihistamines,Painkillers,Antidepressants,BP or allergy medicines
6) Hormonal or medical causes :Thyroid imbalance,
Autoimmune conditions (rare, but if dryness is severe and long-standing),Acid reflux (GERD)

What you can do immediately is
1)Night-time care
Keep water at bedside
Use a saliva substitute gel or spray before sleep
Apply coconut oil or petroleum jelly to lips
Use a humidifier if available
2) Oral care
Clean tongue gently once daily
Avoid alcohol-based mouthwashes
Use a fluoride toothpaste
3) Lifestyle tips

Avoid smoking
Chew sugar-free gum during the day to stimulate saliva
Breathe through the nose (get nasal blockage checked)
