HI, Thank you for your query. 1. If it has been six months, better to get a thorough examination done. Even severe post viral cough settles down in 8 to 10 weeks.

2. Get a Videolaryngoscopy done. A throat swab and sputum examination should be done for both aerobic bacteria and acid fast bacilus. Routine blood tests to rule out infections and other common conditions such as Eosinophilia should be done.

3. Acid reflux can also cause chronic cough. Allergic cough is also a strong possibility. 4. Details of previous medication will help. A relook at the chest x-ray is advised. Regards.
