Dog salaiva
Two weeks before the dog took the door mat i followed it and took back the mat with my hand after that i rubbed my nose with the same hand. Recently i had neck pain that got reduced with medication. Is this a situation of concern? Please advise.

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. I understand your concern. Touching a doormat handled by a dog and then rubbing your nose does not usually cause any serious infection. Most common germs transferred this way are minor bacteria or allergens that may lead to mild cold, sore throat, or skin irritation. ✅ Advices • Wash hands with soap and water after handling pets or household items used by pets • Keep your vaccinations, especially tetanus, up to date • Maintain good personal hygiene to avoid similar concerns What to Monitor • Any persistent fever, cough, or nasal irritation • Skin rash, swelling, or redness near nose or face • Severe sore throat or persistent neck pain returning Management Since your neck pain has already improved with medicines, it is unlikely related to this incident. No further treatment is required at the moment. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately • If you develop high fever, swollen lymph nodes, or severe sore throat • If pain reappears with stiffness and is not relieved by simple medicines • If you notice any bite, wound, or scratch from the dog during that incident Every patient’s case is unique. Based on your description, there is no major concern from this event and routine care should be enough. 👉 You can connect with me on Practo or WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a detailed review if symptoms persist or if you need reassurance regarding pet-related exposures. Take care, wishing you good health. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician
