Do I need a rabies booster?
Hello. I was vaccinated earlier this year, received 4 doses of anti-rabies vaccine and last dose was on June 5th. In September I got two booster doses (25, 28).
Now, on 24 October I had another exposure. A stray dog possibly scratched me but I haven't seen him since.
That was the first and last time I saw the dog. Should I take 2 more boosters to be safe as according to CDC every new exposure requires new booster?

The post exposure prophylaxis protocol (vaccinating after having dog bite/scratch) for rabies may vary from states-to-state and from countries to countries even though WHO/CDC have guidelines. As per the Kerala Health protocols, it is not required to vaccinate for the current exposure. Booster is usually taken from after a 3 months gap from last shot.

Since you already completed vaccine course and booster doses recently, And your encounter with stray dog more than 2 weeks you’re still fine, you don’t need any more booster doses.
