Dilated bile duct with normal lft
Hello all, I had gotten an ultrasound abdomen scan during the end of February to check for inguinal hernia. During the scan, there was no hernia detected but my common bile duct was dilated to 8.6mm. My primary care physician (I am in the United States now) did a liver function test and that was normal.. He said no need to worry about anything since lft is normal. However, I've been worrying If it could be something serious like pancreatic cancer or bile duct cancer. I did not have any pain in my upper abdomen region before the scan, but I feel like I have some vague pain ever since I got the scan. I am 28 years old and I still have my gallbladder. Should I be worrying about this or is it just a benign finding? Thank you

There are two issues which I wanna highlight 1. Dilated CBD 8.2 mm. Possibilities are 1. Choledochal cyst 2. Passed out stone 3.lower end of CBD abnormality-(less likely- stricture/ malignancy) considering your age, these can thought of. You can evaluate with an MRI/ MRCP as a next step. USG is operator dependant. So MRCP is accurate Otherwise, you can observe for a month and get a scan  repeated. If increasing in size or deranged labs or symptoms, you can get it  done asap. 2. Inguinal hernia Need to examine for that
