Diagnostic for mucormycosis
Apart from PNS MRI, are there any other tests to rule out mucormycosis in earliest stages, such as fluid or tissue sample test, if so who to approach for conducting them?

CT or MRI scans will only reveal fungal sinusitis with or without bony erosions and extensions to orbit or cheek soft tissues or brain. Only after Endoscopic Nasal Surgery can the debris sample be tested in Potassium Hydroxide preparation for the Pathologist/Microbiologist to specifically identify the offending fungus, be it Mucormycosis(Black Fungus) or Aspergillosis or Candidiasis or any other fungus. Fungal infections are essentially opportunistic! The patient's blood sugar levels are earliest indicators of his/her susceptibility. Reckless administration of systemic steroids by untrained/inexperienced Doctors (in steroid usage) is causing this problem!
Next Steps
Immediate admission and endoscopic nasal surgery is a must to avoid eye or brain invasion. However, many patients disregard these early stage warnings to their own peril later on!
