A small amount (4–5 ml) may cause mild stomach irritation, nausea, or burning, but if there are no symptoms, it is usually not serious. Drink plenty of water and avoid inducing vomiting.
Next Steps
If vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, or breathing difficulty occurs, seek urgent care. Please consult me for proper guidance and monitoring.

If 4–5 ml of Dettol antiseptic liquid (chloroxylenol based) was accidentally swallowed and there are no symptoms currently, in most adults this small quantity usually does not cause serious toxicity. However, Dettol is not safe for ingestion. It can irritate: • Mouth and throat • Esophagus • Stomach lining Possible symptoms (if they occur) may include: • Nausea • Vomiting • Abdominal pain • Drowsiness • Burning sensation in throat The fact that you are currently asymptomatic is reassuring.
Next Steps
✔ Do this now: • Rinse mouth thoroughly. • Drink 1–2 glasses of plain water or milk (to dilute it). ❌ Do NOT: • Induce vomiting. • Take alcohol. • Take any random medicine. ⚠ Go to emergency immediately if you develop: • Persistent vomiting • Severe abdominal pain • Drowsiness or confusion • Difficulty breathing • Burning in throat/chest • Blood in vomit Observation for 6–8 hours after ingestion is generally sufficient if no symptoms develop.
Health Tips
• Avoid eating very spicy or acidic food today. • Stay hydrated. • Monitor for symptoms for 24 hours. • Keep antiseptics and chemicals stored safely to prevent recurrence. If this happened to a child, elderly person, or someone with liver/kidney disease, medical evaluation is advised even if asymptomatic. ⸻ At present, since you have no symptoms, serious harm is unlikely. If you would like a brief online review of your condition or have any change in symptoms, I’m available for consultation to guide you properly and safely.
