Antidepressants are used for treatment of anxiety and depression. Depression and anxiety disorders are caused due to certain neuro biological and chemical changes in the brain, which means it has a biological basis. What antidepressant medication does is that it rectifies these abnormalities in the brain and thus helps in the treatment of these disorders. Antidepressant are effective medications and are recommended for treatment of moderate to severe depression.
