Deep cut, emergency please help

Asked for Female, 42 Years

My mom cut herself very deep on her thumb and it's bleeding a lot for over 10 minutes now, I have applied pressure on it for a long time and now cotton is blocking the blood, but as soon as removed bleeding is starting again, what should I do?
