Therapy goals ka clear hona zaroori nahi hota shuruat me. Agar aap apni problem ko exact identify nahi kar pa rahe hain, to bhi therapy ka goal yeh ho sakta hai ki apne emotions, anger triggers aur underlying issues ko samjha jaaye. Therapist ke saath milkar clarity develop hoti hai aur dheere-dheere specific goals set kiye ja sakte hain.
Consultation with me is advised to help clarify underlying concerns, explore emotional patterns such as anger, and collaboratively define therapy goals.
Your inability to understand what to expect from therapy is a universal dilemma as mostly we don’t really know what we suffer from .However your therapist should be able to help you find your problem and disorder if any by asking you the questions related to your emotional state over a few days ,during the session. The questions related to any physical and mental discomforts in addition to behavioural irregularities will also be helpful .Your people eg your parent wife or brother etc can also go with you to the therapist who can throw light on your behaviour and adjustment issues if any . . The therapist can make use of the tools available in this regard.

Hello there!
It’s normal to be a little confused about what is that you exactly want your goal from Therapy to be if it’s very initial session and you might or might still do not know all your concerns.
Next Steps
Take it slow. First figure out why you went for Therapy in first place that could be first point of your goal setting. If you have multiple concerns first label in a book mentioning highest problematic concern to lesser one ex. 1 to 5., now beside each concern you mention write how best you want guidance or help on that concern from your Therapy. This could be helpful to you.
Health Tips
If your concern is anger as you mentioned then try to first understand why or what’s making you angry in the first place and what is that you want to do about it. Anger can come from many reasons so first knowing why you are feeling a certain way is more important. If you feel you know you are angry but you still do not know the reasons then maybe tuning inwards with help of a Therapist will be much helpful.
I hope this helps!

I can see that you’re confused about what to write, and that’s okay.
Before thinking what to write, pause and ask yourself why you are writing these goals.
The purpose of writing therapy goals is not to already know the problem.
It is to understand what you want to work on through therapy.
Next Steps
Ask yourself:
• Are these goals to help you understand yourself better?
• Are they about gaining clarity about your future or career?
• Or are they about your personal emotions and how you want to feel or behave?
If it is about your personal self, then think:
• How do you want to be as a person?
• What do you want more control over?
• What do you want to change or understand about yourself?
Health Tips
Once you are clear about why you are writing these goals, what to write will become easier.”
Goal setting is generally performed in the session, along with the therapist.
Tell your therapist about the management you are looking for. As example, managing anger.

Goals for therapy helps psychologist move in a direction which will help with emotional well being.
Goal is supposed to be something specific like- “i want to work on my current anger management “
Something that can be measured, with progress. It needs to time specific, that is has a time limit.
Also, you can ask your therapist to help you set a goal, if it’s too overwhelming for you to do it by yourself.
Hope this help
