Dark patchy lips
Since last April/May, my lips have become extremely dry and developed dark patches on the under lip.

Dark lips can be due to anaemia. That is less haemoglobin or iron deficiency. It is one of common reasons in Indian females. Get your haemoglobin level checkd.

if it is normal then second most common reason is cosmetic usage.   try leaving your cosmetic and simple Vaseline or boroline u can apply.

You have been suffering from the situation for long.I think a visit to oral pathologist would be worth.Dry lips could be result of many ailments.keep petroleum jelly /Vaseline handy.apply it whenever required.

drink lot of water stop licking or biting on your lips stop applying cosmetic products or any medicine(consumed on daily basis) until your doctor doesn't allow you apply coconut oil before going to bed

If ur applying lipstick some products will cause dark colour,so evening u can do some home remedies such as applying honey n lemon , ghee , beet root

Apply lip balm which suit you. You can try Johnson and Johnson baby cream on your lip, as some of my patient with dry lip got benefit. Dont lick your lips. If you more something more than just a dry lip, you can consult with a oral pathologist.
