Critical osteoporosis
Hello doctors, please help me. My name is Vignesh. I am a DMD patient, age 25. I have been using steroids for a long time. First, I used Defcort 6 mg for 5 years. After that, I used Wysolone 10 mg for about 4 and a half years. Now, for the past 3 months, I am again taking Defcort 12 mg. Currently, my bones are in a very severe osteoporosis condition. It is extremely critical. I have been bedridden for the past 5 years. For the past 5 months, I have been lying down continuously and cannot even sit. I cannot even be lifted and moved to another place. I am always in the same place I do everything while lying on the bed. Now I don’t know what to do anymore. I am staying on the 3rd floor, and I cannot even go to the hospital. My bones are very critical — even light lifting can cause fractures. Is there any way to make my bones stronger while staying at home? Please help me. I am unable to do anything. My number : nine nine five two zero seven one seven four seven please call me 🙏

Vignesh in duchenne muscular dystrophy with long term steroid use severe osteoporosis can become critical but treatment is still possible even at home the most important step is a tele consultation with an orthopedician or endocrinologist to start bone strengthening injections like bisphosphonates or denosumab which can significantly reduce fracture risk Adequate vitamin D3 calcium and protein intake is essential and should be taken strictly as prescribed avoid lifting, twisting or sudden movements, and use a firm mattress with frequent gentle position changes to protect fragile bones with proper medical treatment and careful handling, bone loss can be slowed and complications reduced.
