Cramps in calf muscle
Dear doctor I am 45yrs old housewife I have been diagnosed with grade 2 spondylolisthesis and I have been doing physiotherapy for a while and thing is i am feeling serve cramps in calf muscles and after sometime the pain goes away is spondylolisthesis the reason for it and what can be done to prevent it. I am trying out hot water fomentation and physiotherapy, blood report shows that I have high platelet count and low haemoglobin taking medicine for the same too.thanks

Hello !!! I can understand the pain you have. Yes, the radiation of cramps to your calf region is because of spondylolisthesis. What i can make out that it is probably claudication. Grade 2 in on the verge of deciding whether to operate or not. Do the following : 1. You must wear a lumbar brace as of now (if you are not wearing already) 2. Get your xrays of lumbar spine done in flexion and extension view to see if the listhesis is stable or mobile. - If mobile .... We need to fix it 3. MRI of lumbar spine with spinogram to see if there is some cord compression by the disc. - if yes - we need to decompress as well
