I had fever since last 10 days, took Calpol 650 & sometime Zerodol P.
Now no fever. But chest is occupied with cough.
Taking Asthakind-DX and StoBal (Homeo), but no relief , cough is generated always.
Done CBC, it is all ok.

Hello,
At 68 years of age, a persistent cough following a fever requires careful evaluation, even if initial blood tests (CBC) appear normal. Post-viral coughs are common, but we must rule out secondary complications.
1. Potential Clinical Considerations
Post-Infectious Bronchitis: It is common for the airways to remain inflamed and produce mucus for several weeks after a viral fever has resolved.
Secondary Bacterial Infection: Although your fever is gone, the "occupied" feeling in your chest could indicate a lingering lower respiratory tract infection.
Cough-Variant Asthma or COPD Exacerbation: If there is an underlying history of smoking or environmental exposure, viral infections can trigger prolonged airway hypersensitivity.
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF): In elderly patients, what feels like a "chest occupied with cough" can sometimes be related to fluid backup, especially if the cough worsens when lying down.
2. Recommended Next Steps
Since your CBC is normal, the following investigations are necessary to identify the cause:
Chest X-Ray (PA View): This is the most critical next step to rule out pneumonia, localized congestion, or other structural changes in the lungs.
Spirometry (Lung Function Test): To check for any airway obstruction or constriction.
Sputum Examination: If you are coughing up phlegm, a culture can determine if a specific bacteria is present that requires targeted antibiotics.
Physical Examination: A doctor needs to listen to your lungs (auscultation) to check for "crepitations" or "wheezing."
3. Immediate Advice
Steam Inhalation: Use plain water steam 2–3 times a day to help loosen the congestion in your chest.
Hydration: Drink plenty of warm fluids (soups, herbal tea, or warm water) to keep the mucus thin and easier to clear.
Monitor for Red Flags: If you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or if the fever returns, seek medical attention immediately.
Summary: While your normal CBC is a good sign, it does not fully clear the lungs. A Chest X-ray and a consultation with a Pulmonologist (Chest Specialist) are strongly recommended due to your age and the persistent nature of the cough.
XRAY CHEST PA VIEW DIGITAL WITH REPORTING OR HRCT CHEST
CONTINUE ASTHAKID
ADD MONTEK LC ONE AT NIGHT AFTER DINNER FOR 5 DAYS.
AMBRODIL S SYR5 ML TWICE N 10ML AT NIGHT FOR 5 TO 7 DAYS. YET IF PERSIST
DUOLINE N BUDECORT RESPULE TWO TIMES FOR 5 DAYS AS NEBULIZATION
10 din se cough persist kar raha hai (fever ke baad), to ye post-infectious cough / bronchitis ho sakta hai, lekin age (68 yrs) me isko lightly nahi lena chahiye.
CBC normal hone se lung infection completely rule out nahi hota.
Is stage par important next step:
Fever has been reduced your treatment is on the right track but still due to age and also due longstanding cough … u should see a physician in person so that they could aucultate your chest and based on that chest x ray can be advised
Hey, dnt worry. Pls tell us it a dry cough or wet one? Why taking asthakind- any indication? Kindly consult with me on 94 two six eight six 78 nine six.
DX cough syrup is for dry cough only ,if sputum is produced then taking dx syp can be dangerous as it supress the cough and sputum remains inside chest. You need antibiotics as already 10 days of fever.
Next Steps
You can book a video consultation with me I will guide or if possible visit your local general physicians.
Hi, persistent cough/chest congestion after fever can happen due to post-viral bronchitis, infection, wheezing or pneumonia. Normal CBC does not rule out chest causes.
Next Steps
You may need chest examination, oxygen check and possibly chest X-ray. Please avoid self-medication.
