Compromise Diet and Nutrition
My 15-month-old daughter has not been eating for the past 6 days. She is not even looking at or tasting the food I offer her. She was vaccinated 4 days ago and has had a fever till yesterday(3 Days), but she had already stopped eating even before the vaccination. What could be the reason for this, what foods should I try offering her and how as she is not even ready to taste anything at all.

Loss of appetite for a few days can happen in toddlers, especially if there was **fever, recent vaccination, viral infection, teething, or throat/mouth ulcers**. Since your child had fever recently, a **viral illness** is the most common reason. What you can do: * Do not force feed. Offer small amounts frequently. * Continue breastfeeding or milk if she is taking it. * Offer soft, easy foods: curd, banana, khichdi, dal rice, mashed potato, soups, fruit puree. * Give fluids like water, coconut water, or ORS if intake is low. * Let her eat when she feels comfortable; appetite usually returns in a few days after illness. Observe for warning signs: * Child very weak or unusually sleepy * Not drinking fluids * Vomiting repeatedly * No urine for 6–8 hours * Mouth ulcers or severe throat pain * Weight loss or refusal of all feeds for more than 7 days If she continues to refuse food or fluids, or seems unwell, she should be examined by a pediatrician to check for **mouth ulcers, throat infection, ear infection, or other illness**.

Causes may be poor appetite after viral infection. Sometimes, after vaccination, appetite may be suppressed. Due to teething at this age, there may be poor appetite. Check oral cavity for any white patches, ulcers or rash. Check for rash on palms and soles. Check if there is constipation/ pain during micturition. As of now, maintain hydration well. Don't force feed. Keep track of stools. Wait for few days. If child becomes less active, vomits, has recurring fever, decreased urine, etc. please go to ER
