Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine and should not be stopped abruptly, as it can cause withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbances, and even rebound symptoms. A gradual tapering strategy is usually recommended based on your initial condition and response to treatment.
Guidelines for Tapering Off Clonazepam:
✔ If you have taken 0.5 mg for 2 weeks, you may need a gradual reduction over 1–2 weeks (e.g., reducing to 0.25 mg for a few days before stopping).
✔ If prescribed for anxiety or sleep issues, stopping too quickly may cause symptom recurrence.
✔ Quetiapine (25 mg) is often used for sleep or mood stabilization, and its continuation depends on your primary diagnosis.
Recommendation:
➡ Do not stop clonazepam suddenly without proper guidance.
➡ A personalized tapering schedule is needed based on your medical history.
