Hello Doctor,
I want to discuss my condition and ask some questions. I had severe anxiety, poor sleep, dreamy/unreal vision, slow thinking, confusion, restlessness, and difficulty driving. I was initially prescribed HPDL, Oleanz, Loricalm, and later Encorate Chrono 500. After stopping HPDL, I experienced withdrawal symptoms like dreamy feeling, pressure in head, slow brain, and poor concentration. I was taking Oleanz for about 3 month but stopped it suddenly without medical advice. Since then, I feel mentally slow, stuck while doing tasks, and anxious about my health. Please guide me on medication plan, recovery, and safety.

Hi,
Your symptoms are most likely due to sudden stopping of medicines (HPDL and Oleanz) combined with severe anxiety. Abrupt withdrawal can cause dreamy/unreal feelings, head pressure, mental slowness, poor concentration, and restlessness. This does not mean brain damage and is reversible.
Anxiety is now maintaining and worsening these symptoms. Repeated stopping/starting medicines can delay recovery.
Next Steps
- Do not stop or change medicines on your own
- Get a proper psychiatric review to simplify and adjust medications
- Treat anxiety directly (therapy ± medicines)
- Maintain regular sleep, light activity, and gradual return to routine
Health Tips
Recovery usually happens gradually over weeks to months with the right plan.

Your symptoms are most consistent with withdrawal effects from abrupt stopping of medications (HPDL/Olanzapine) along with ongoing severe anxiety. Sudden discontinuation can cause dreamy/unreal feelings, head pressure, mental slowing, poor concentration, restlessness, and health anxiety.
This is reversible and does NOT indicate brain damage.
What to do:
• Avoid stopping/starting medicines on your own.
• A gradual, supervised medication plan (sometimes re-stabilising and tapering) may be needed.
• Treat the underlying anxiety (medication + psychotherapy).
• Sleep regulation, reduced reassurance-seeking, and CBT help recovery.
• If symptoms worsen (confusion, severe agitation, suicidal thoughts), seek urgent care.
With consistent treatment and time, recovery is expected.
