Chronic Constipation
Have been suffering from constipation since childhood. It’s not that I don’t pass stool at all — I do every single day, but I face a lot of struggle (40–50 minutes). For the last few years, I have tried diet changes, exercise,Yoga,Gym,Lifestyle changes, home remedies, and even consulted a nutritionist for about an year but nothing has worked. Recently, since it has been a long-term issue, someone suggested homeopathy. I have been using homeopathic medicine for the past 4 months, but the severity has increased and there has been no benefit. What can I do to reduce the strain and time that I spend on this?

Care AI Shimmer
This is likely chronic functional constipation or sometimes a pelvic floor issue (outlet obstruction). Homeopathy has not helped, so I would advise stopping it. For now, please follow this: Do not sit in the toilet for more than 10–15 minutes. If nothing happens, get up and try later. Use a small stool under your feet while passing motion (knees higher than hips, lean slightly forward). Start an osmotic laxative like PEG (Movicol) / Lactulose 15–20 ml at bedtime to soften stool. If needed, add Isabgol 1 tsp in warm water at night (start low and increase slowly). Drink adequate water (2.5–3 litres/day unless restricted).
Next Steps
If the problem continues despite this, you may need evaluation by a gastroenterologist.
