Chickenpox
Hello. I have never got chickenpox before. I met a friend on Monday who was sick and the next day he found out he has chicken pox. Google tells me that it can take a couple of days before i get to know if I am infected and for symptoms to show. Assuming that I am infected, will I be a carrier of this virus and transmit it to others before symptoms show? Or will it start transmitting only after symptoms show? Thanks in advance

Hi, You have asked a very good question. Usually a person who has got chicken pox is infective and can transmit infection to a normal healthy individuals from 2 days before onset of rash to 5 days after rash till scab is formed. Once a person got exposed it may manifest 10-21 days after exposure. Hope that answers your query.
