Chest Pains
I am having chest pain mainly in the upper sternum area and the sides of the breasts. I used to have it sometimes but since yesterday the pain is more frequent. It feels like tightening and like it has been bruised from outside but I have had no physical injury. Pressing on the sternum and chest region hurts a little.

Your  pain is musculoskeletal in nature, most commonly due to costochondritis or chest wall muscle strain. The important points suggesting this are: Pain over the upper sternum and sides of the chest Tenderness on pressing the area Sensation of tightness or bruised feeling No history of injury but increased frequency recently This type of pain is usually not related to the heart, especially at your age.
Next Steps
ECG can be done to rule out cardiac causes if symptoms persist. Avoid heavy lifting or upper-body strain Maintain good posture Use warm compress over the painful area Avoid stress and acidity-triggering foods
Health Tips
If pain increases, becomes continuous, or is associated with breathlessness, sweating, or radiation to left arm or jaw, seek urgent medical care. For proper evaluation and a tailored treatment plan.

You should visit in person at a clinic/ hospital. The doctor will rule out all life threatening causes with history and physical exam findings and a simple ECG to check your heart rhythm and beats.

From what you’re describing, this sounds more like a muscle or chest wall–related pain rather than anything serious. The fact that it hurts when you press on the area and feels bruised points away from a heart cause. This can happen with posture issues, stress, or minor inflammation.
Next Steps
Get a doctor’s consultation for an exam. An ECG once can be done for reassurance, but usually this settles with simple treatment.
Health Tips
Try to avoid pressing the area, heavy activity, and poor posture for a few days. If pain increases, spreads, or you feel breathless or dizzy, get checked immediately.

Considering your description of the pain and since there is tenderness it most likely is related to muscle spasm or rib pain due to some minor inflammation. Easily treatable with simple medications. Please consult for the same. However still advised to get an ECG for a complete thorough workup. Avoid too much exposure to the cold climate.

Based on your description—pain in the upper sternum and sides of the chest, tenderness on pressing, bruised/tight feeling, no injury—this is most likely chest wall pain, commonly costochondritis or musculoskeletal strain. Pain that increases with touch or pressure is usually not cardiac. Anxiety, poor posture, coughing, heavy lifting, or even sleeping position can trigger this. However, because chest pain can be alarming, it should always be clinically assessed, especially if it is new or increasing.
Next Steps
• Consult a doctor for physical examination to confirm chest wall pain • An ECG may be done for reassurance if needed • Treatment usually includes: • Mild pain relief (paracetamol / NSAID if suitable) • Local heat application • Short-term muscle relaxant if spasm is present • Seek urgent care if pain is associated with: • Breathlessness • Sweating • Radiation to arm/jaw • Dizziness or fainting
Health Tips
• Avoid pressing or repeatedly checking the painful area • Maintain good posture, especially while using phone/laptop • Apply warm compress 2–3 times daily • Avoid heavy lifting and upper-body strain for a few days • Manage stress and anxiety, which can worsen chest tightness
