My cousin is suffering from chest pain and anxiety doctors done a echocardiogram report Impression . Mitral valve prolapse( A1 A2 segment ) . Good LV and RV systolic function . No regional LV wall motion abnormality . LVEF - 52% . Mild AR, Trace MR , No TR . No pericardial effusion I want to know that what is this abnormality is there any serious problem or medicine can treat this problem please reply

Hello, This problem seems to be an incidental detection. Prolapse means the valve leaflet is loose. Right now considering mild problem he does not need any surgery. He can be managed on medications. He has mitral valve prolapse, MR is mild so no surgery required Need follow up echo every year If MR increases he will require Mitral valve repair
