As rightfully suggested by others the nerve gets compressed only when the intervertebral disc gets damaged due to any reason. The intensity of the the compression varies as according to the damage . Which results in varied symptoms of nerve compression ranging from just tingling sensation in arms to weakness of muscles of arm to paralysis neck down. It would be helpful if you would have attached MRI SCANS to check which nerve and what intensity.
Next Steps
Physio therapy sessions are must as to increase strength of muscles of neck so that the muscles bear all the weight of head and the nerve compression does not increase. I also suggest to consult an occupational therapist so that you can be guided as what movements to avoid when doing daily tasks and to also learn correct and healthy methods of doing your daily tasks such as using cellular devices, laptops, cooking, reading donning and doffing of clothes, shoes etc...
