Dear, I can understand the distress you are through.
Emotions, mood are not permanent but short lived processes. They are ought to change after some time even if you don't do anything. It follows a cyclic rhythm like day and night. At times we feel happy, at times we are sad. It's normal and happens with everyone.
However in some individuals a bad/sad phase may last little longer. When such happens, there is usually an associated symptoms of worrying, irritability, subsequently the sleep is disturbed too; and when the sadness persist even longer, hopelessness sets in which may in few rise to the amount of suicidality. This is "depression".
The experience you seem to be having now is somewhat like a depressive phase.
Like any other problem eg. Fever, infection, hypertension, diabetes, etc even depression also needs to be treated so that the functionality is restored and further complications can be avoided.
The good part is
1) it's can be completely cured.
2) more advanced medicine and treatment modalities are available
3) you can be able to live a normal, happy life again.
4) Help is available
All you must do is Visit a Professional (Psychiatrist/physician).
