Hey Doc,
I am a pre-med student, with a lot of financial hardship at the moment, and this is consequently affecting my sleep patterns. Is there an over-the-counter sleeping pill I can take, or do I have to get a script?

Thank you for asking. I my suggestion to you will be to not to seek medications for the sleep problem, you must try following proper sleep hygiene initially if you haven't tried that. Sleeping pills or medication used for sleep problems can be obtained strictly on prescription only. Before suggesting you any specific instructions, I would want to know in detail about the problem. Most of the time an anxiety disorder can present in such a manner. In that case one must cure the underlying anxiety problem and not just sleep.
Next Steps
You must consult with a psychiatrist. You can also ask a detailed query here on practo or visit one nearby you. Do not seek any medication help without consulting with the doctor.
