Can a psychiatrist help in treating IBS
Hello Doctor, I am a student from Pakistan and also work part-time as a freelancer. I have IBS-C, which is significantly affecting my daily life, studies, and work. I have tried GI treatments, diet changes, and lifestyle measures with limited improvement. I’ve seen several patient experiences where IBS cured after psychiatric treatment focused on the gut–brain connection. Especially from Dr. Sanjay Jain or Dr. Suneet Upadhyay. Could you please advise: Can a psychiatrist help manage IBS, especially when anxiety or stress is involved? Is psychiatric consultation appropriate if standard IBS treatments are not working? Would an online consultation still be useful for guidance if I need to manage medicines locally? Thank you for your time.

Your symptoms indicate possible anxiety, which is very common but often ignored. Early assessment helps prevent worsening symptoms and unnecessary medication use. Free platforms have limitations, and detailed evaluation is required to guide treatment correctly. You may consider a consultation for personalized assessment and step-wise management.
