Hi
My sister has BPD & is undergoing counselling on weekly/fortnightly basis
The problem is she feels she does notneed medicines & therefore she has stopped taking them.
Also she has put on a DND board outside
her room & stays inside most of the day.
This is worrying for us-what should we do??

If she is already going for Counseling sessions u can discuss about the same with the counselor so that during sessions she can take care of these concerns.
Secondly, try to do things that will make her happy or relaxed so that she can approach u people thinking as a friend

Talk to experienced psychiatrist online and get your health questions answered in just 5 minutes.
It's important to rule out depression as it is very commonly seen in patients of BPD. But you can get involved with the therapy with her consent to know the best way you can support her.
The counsellor should do insight orientation and make her realise about her problem. It would be better if u address all the issues to the counsellor and convince her to take meds or take her to a psychiatrist personally.
Since your sister is undergoing therapy, try to understand from her how her therapy is going and what progress she has been making. With your sister's consent, you can have a family therapy session with her therapist as well. If your sister is unhappy with her therapist, then she can look for an alternative therapist
